SYNOPSIS

A broad 500 hPa trough stretches from Scandinavia into central and southeastern Europe. A large high pressure area with its core over Russia influences the larger part of Europe with cold stable low level airmass spreading out with easterly/northeasterly winds. Greece and Turkey deal with a low pressure area with many convective storms, however the shear parameters over the area do not favour severe weather, other than perhaps a waterspout or two. Hail of sub-severe size may also occur. Most storms will develop over the Mediterranean Sea, but given SFLOC reports over Turkey last night, the chance appears to be somewhat present that diurnal heating (strengthening rapidly these days) may initiate a few storms over northern Turkey as well.
